Two dead in explosion in Oshikoto Region

WINDHOEK, 26 APR (NAMPA) - Two people died and two sustained serious injuries when an unexploded ordnance went off in the Oshikoto Region on Thursday.
A media statement issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday said the incident occurred at around 08h00 at Omawe Village.
The 50-year-old Mirjam Shikalepo had apparently been working in her mahangu field when she came across the device.
When she picked the device up to show it to her children it exploded, killing both Shikalepo and her eight-year-old daughter, Tresia Petrus instantly.
Two bystanders aged 23 and 12 years old respectively were also injured.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
