OTAVI, 25 APR (NAMPA) – The Otjozondjupa Regional Governor, Otto Ipinge has called on the Otavi Town Council to allocate free business plots to investors to promote the town as an investment hub.
Ipinge was speaking at the official opening of the Otavi Investment Expo and Festival that took place at Otavi on Friday morning.
The 2015 Otavi Investment Expo and Festival kicked off at the Otavi Sports Field on Wednesday morning.
“Invite real business investors to this town and give them free plots with conditions attached. Don’t sell the land to them, just give it for free so that they can come and invest and create jobs for the local people,” he said.
Ipinge was appointed Otjozondjupa Regional Governor by President Dr Hage Geingob two weeks ago.
He called on the Otavi Town Council to attract serious investors that will come to the town and construct shopping malls, saying attracting investors to Otavi is easy, as long as proper business strategies are put in place.
The former Otjiwarongo mayor said it should not be about the municipality making quick money from the investors in a short period of time, but should be about a long-term business relationship.
He urged other town councils in the region such as Okakarara, Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein and Okahandja to support each other’s annual trade fairs.
The Otjozondjupa Governor also urged all operational companies and business people in and around the town to fully support its investment expo and festival activities.
This is Otavi’s third year investment expo and festival, and it ends on Saturday.
