Rebels' relegation close after Pirates defeat

WINDHOEK, 17 APR (NAMPA) – Rebels Football Club is on the verge of being relegated at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Rebels is currently second last on the log standing in the 16-team Namibia Premier League (NPL), with 17 points.
They lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates on Thursday night at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.
Speaking to the media after the game, Rebels’ coach Martin Bock said he was disappointed.
“Sometimes as a coach, you need to admit that things are not going your way. Today we had a poor game, as we could not convert all our chances, even though we had opportunities to score goals. We are lacking experience in the team and if we go back to the first division, I think these players might grow and come back stronger next season,” said Bock.
In the first half, Rebels created a number of scoring opportunities but failed to convert, taking the half-time score to 0-0 for both teams.
In the second half, Rebels came out the more determined side as they controlled ball possession in the beginning of the second half. As the game progressed, Pirates were however the stronger side, scoring their only goal of the game in the 78th minute through their star player of the day, Gustav Isaak, who volleyed in a Nicky Musambani cross.
The defeat means Rebels have to win their remaining four games in the NPL if they are to play in the league’s next season.
On Sunday, Rebels will play Mighty Gunners at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
