KATIMA MULILO, 12 APR (NAMPA) – The reappointed regional governor of Zambezi, Lawrence Sampofu, has heaped praise on Government for continuing to roll out development in the region.
His praise was shared with the masses through a speech read on his behalf by Chairperson of the Management Committee, Raphael Mbala, at the 25th Independence celebrations held at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex on Saturday.
Sampofu applauded Government for remarkable developments such as the newly inaugurated Liselo-Linyanti-Sangwali; Kongola to Singalamwe; Izimwe to Nakabolelwa; and Isize-Luhonono roads; as well as the revamping of the Dr Hage Geingob and Sam Nujoma streets.
He further highlighted that many schools such as those found in the areas of Batubaja, Malindi, Kaenda, and Ngonga, are connected to electricity, and that many rural communities are accessing clean drinking water.
“On this day of celebrating our hard earned independence, allow me once again to reemphasise the commitment of our Swapo-led Government to provide quality services to the Namibian nation.
“We have seen remarkable developments in the Zambezi Region through the Swapo-led Government, and more is expected to be done in this regard,” Mbala read.
Sampofu also made a call to all residents of the region to rally behind President Hage Geingob by giving him enough support to deliver his leadership and that of honouring the fallen heroes and heroines.
“It is our collective responsibility as people soaked in the sweat and blood of our heroes and heroines to lay a strong social and economic foundation on which future generations will build a prosperous, stable and peaceful society.
“Let us honour our heroes and heroines by working hard in unity of action and purpose to ensure a vibrant and prosperous Namibia nation,” he said.
The celebration was attended by regional and local governors as well as representatives of traditional authorities and various ministries.
