Man kills girlfriend, self

A 36-YEAR-OLD man from Esili village near Okahao killed his girlfriend before committing suicide last week Thursday.

Spokesperson for the police in Omusati region, Sergeant Hesekiel Hamalwa, who confirmed the incident to The Namibian, said the woman has been identified as Anna Ndishishi Shivute (24) from Esili village.
According to sergeant Hamalwa, the woman was at the Omukondonoshilulu cuca shop complex at their village with friends when Timotheus Auti Asino arrived there late that evening carrying a knife.
He called Shivute to an open area and started stabbing her with the knife several times all over the body. Shivute died on the spot.
Asino then ran away and was found hanging from a tree five kilometres from the village the next morning. Hamalwa said the motive behind the killing is not known to the police but investigations into the tragic incident continue.
Villagers from Osili village have been left stunned by the killings. “Till when are these killings going to continue?” a shocked villager asked.
