WINDHOEK, 07 APR (NAMPA) - The annual Retirement Fund Solutions (RFS) SKW Wecke and Voigts Youth Academy Tournament has received a financial boost of N.dollars 20 000 from the RFS.
A media statement issued by the Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) Football Academy on Tuesday said this is the ninth year RFS is the main sponsor of the event.
“This year we are investing a total of N.dollars 20 000 to ensure that this event will once again create a platform for the football stars of tomorrow to showcase their abilities,” RFS Director Kai Friedrich was quoted as saying in the statement.
He added that over the years, they have seen the tournament grow in stature. Friedrich said they are pleased to note that some of the leading footballers in Namibia honed their skills at the SKW Wecke and Voigts Youth Academy tournament before going on to become household names in Namibian football.
“For a long time now we have maintained that without corporate support at grassroots level proper football mentorship and development will remain only a dream for many of our young and ambitious football talents in Namibia,” he said.
Also quoted in the statement was the chairperson of the SKW football division, Anibal Rego.
“For many years now we have benefited from the sponsorship of Retirement Fund Solutions, without whom the staging of this tournament would not be possible,” Rego said.
The tournament is set to take place from 10 to 12 April.
Entrance to the event is free of charge.
