Congolese national arrested with crack cocaine at roadblock

WINDHOEK, 06 APR (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Friday 03 April 2015 arrested a Congolese national from the Democratic Republic of Congo in possession of crack cocaine.
NamPol's spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus told a media briefing here on Monday afternoon that the 27-year-old Congolese man was arrested at about 13h00 while being a passenger in a vehicle passing through the Windhoek/Rehoboth roadblock on the southern outskirts of the capital.
According to Matheus, the suspected drug dealer was found with five small plastic bags containing crack cocaine with an estimated street value of N.dollars 17 000.
The suspect, who currently resides at the Osire Refugee Camp near Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region, is in the hands of the police and will make his first appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court along Luderitz Street on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the Wanaheda police reported that a 26-year-old man was arrested on Thursday at a house in the Goreangab area when he was found in possession of 225 grams of Methcathinone, also known as ‘cat’ and an alternative to cocaine, valued at N.dollars 127 500. He will appear in the Katutura Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Also appearing in that court on Tuesday, an inmate was arrested on Thursday at the Windhoek Correctional Facility (former Windhoek Central Prison) when he was found in possession of a packet of cannabis valued at N.dollars 18. It is alleged that the inmate had the cannabis in his mouth when it was detected. The alleged cannabis was at a later stage retrieved from his mouth by the Police.
A 21-year-old Namibian was arrested on Friday at Visarend Street of Khomasdal residential area when he was found in possession of five packets of cannabis valued at about N.dollars 100. He will appear in the Katutura Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning.
Also on Friday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested at the Woermann Brock shop in Hochland Park residential area, when he was found with one packet of cannabis worth N.dollars 18. The teenager will also appear in the Katutura Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
