Man rapes friend’s drunken girlfriend
A Rundu resident, Elias Nepwaya, appeared in the Rundu Magistrate court for raping his friend’s teenage girlfriend who was under the influence of alcohol.
According to NamPol, he led the teen from a bar in Sauyemwa area in Rundu to his house where he raped her.
According to the police report on the case prepared by NamPol regional crime co-ordinator in the Kavango East and West, Inspector Crispin Muvebo, Nepwaya was asked by his friend Leevi Kalistus to take his girlfriend home on his behalf as he did not have enough fuel in his car.
Instead of taking the woman who was described as drunk and sleepy her place of residence, Nepwaya drove her to his place and offered her to sleep there.
Nepwaya then, according to the report, drove back to the bar where he informed his friends that she was safely home.
About an hour after returning to the bar, Nepwaya excused himself and drove back to his place of residence.
Upon arriving at his place, he found the victim fast asleep in his bed and he allegedly proceeded to remove her clothes and rape her. The report suggested that the victim tried to put up a fight but was subdued by her drunken state.
When he had finished, he allegedly drove her to her place of residence and dropped her off. Nepwaya did not go back to the bar after that and the victim informed her boyfriend the next day who then immediately contacted Nepwaya.
When contacted by Kalistus, Nepwaya denied raping the woman and the matter was then reported to the police. The report stated that the woman was so drunk that she was vulnerable and defenseless to Nepwaya’s alleged exploitation. Nepwaya went to the police station when contacted by police, which is where he was arrested and charged with rape 9/03/2015.
He appeared in court last week and the case was remanded to 20th April 2015.
