Oshana registers win in opening game of Newspaper Cup

OUTJO, 03 APR (NAMPA) – The Oshana Region beat the Ohangwena Region 4-2 in the opening game of the 15th annual The Namibian Newspaper Cup on Friday.
Oshana won the under-20 tournament in 2007.
In the first-half, Josef Nghifitikeko opened the scoreboard for Ohangwena but Oshana's Manchester Macgver equalised, and a minute later Ohangwena regained the lead via a Frans Haikela volley.
The half-time score was 2-1 in favour of Ohangwena.
In the second half, Oshana came out stronger and were awarded a penalty just five minutes into the second half. Pandeni Kandjambanga converted.
Oshana's super substituted Onesmus Ashipala scored a brace for his side to register their first win in the 2015 edition.
The second game of tournament between Hardap and Omaheke ended 1-1.
Unadje Kauari of Omaheke scored in the first half, and Hungameni Lazarus of Hardap in the second half.
The competition is being played by teams from all 14 regions in the country.
The Kavango Region won the cup in Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region last year.
The groups are:
Group A: Omaheke; Ohangwena; Hardap; Oshana.
Group B: //Karas; Oshikoto; Erongo; Khomas.
Group C: Omusati; Otjozondjupa; and Kunene.
Group D: Kavango East; Kavango West; and Zambezi
