NTTA to host Namibia-China Friendship Cup

WINDHOEK, 27 MAR (NAMPA) – The Namibia Table Tennis Association (NTTA) is set to host the first-ever Namibia-China Friendship Cup, with regional play-offs set to start on Saturday.
The finals are set to take place in Windhoek on 18 April.
A media statement issued by the association's secretary Heiko Fleidl indicated that the competition is in honour of the two countries’ diplomatic relations of 25 years.
Fleidl said the Chinese Embassy in Namibia made a donation of N.dollars 121 120 towards the competition.
Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Xin Shunkang was quoted in the statement as saying that table tennis marks one of their celebrations they share with Namibia.
He applauded the NTTA for its hard work in setting up the event.
The participating regions are Khomas, Erongo and Hardap.
Competition will be in senior men, junior men, and junior women’s divisions.
In both junior categories, schools are allowed to enter a maximum of four boys and four girls for the play-offs.
In the senior division, clubs in the Erongo and Khomas regions will play for spots in the final.
All winners will receive prize money.
