WINDHOEK, 25 MAR (NAMPA) New Rice King packaging will appear on the shelves of Namibian shops as of 01 April 2015.
Namib Mills' Public Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Stakeholder Practitioner Ashante Manetti said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that benefits of the more durable bags in which Rice King will now be sold include longer storage; better protection against damage, contamination and product tampering; and prevention of spillage or leakage.
Packagings primary role is to protect food and as a corporate citizen, Namib Mills is committed to ensuring that our consumers are guaranteed the protection, said Manetti.
The new packaging would also improve product identification and labelling because of the vivid colours and lively design. Nutritional information, ingredients and the sell-by date are also clearly visible. The new logo also matches the products name.
She noted that rice is one of the most important staple foods in many homes throughout Namibia, which makes the nutritional information displayed by the packaging very important to ensure that senior consumers are aware of the nutrients provided to their families.
Manetti explained that Namib Mills redesigned the Rice King packaging with consumers as the inspiration and the reason for the stronger, durable and more 'royal' packaging. All of this resulted from feedback gathered through research conducted in the Erongo, Khomas, Omaheke, Oshana, Hardap and Zambezi regions last year.
She said this brought to light how Namibians view Namibian products and what role packaging plays in the final purchasing decision.
One of Namib Mills strategic objectives is to become the market leader in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and part of that leadership involves listening to our consumers' requirements and supplying them with quality, affordable, durable packaging that helps reflect the superiority of the Rice King brand, said Manetti.
FMCG are sold quickly and at a low cost.
