Robbers target Windhoek suburbs

WINDHOEK, 22 MAR (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) reported armed robbery cases in Suiderhof and Pionierspark over the weekend.
Inspector Slogan Matheus, during the weekend crime media briefing on Sunday, said four male suspects robbed a 30-year-old Chinese female off her belongings.
The incident took place on Friday at about 10h00 at Ceres Street in Suiderhof.
It is alleged that the victim was driving in the street when the suspects forced her to stop her vehicle. The suspects first followed her vehicle, then overtake and stop in the same lane, forcing her to bring her vehicle to a standstill.
The suspects then pointed a pistol at the victim and demanded her to surrender all her possessions. The stolen goods included a wallet, a Samsung Note 2 cellphone, an ipad, a cosmetic bag, shoes and a cash amount of N.dollars 4 000.
They then threw her car keys in the bushes and fled the scene. The suspects are still at large as police investigations continue.
In another incident, a 24 year-old female was robbed off her laptop, after a male suspect broke into her house. The incident took place on Saturday at about 03H00 at Von Falkenhausen Street in Pionierspark.
It is alleged that the suspect broke the kitchen window and gained entrance into the house. He then pointed a pistol at the victim, and demanded her to surrender all her money to him.
The suspect stole the laptop and fled the scene through the same window and is still at large. Police investigation continues.
In another incident, the Gobabis Police is investigating a stock theft case after two male suspects were found with two cattle carcasses and one oryx carcass valued at N.dollars 14 000, at a house in Witvlei in the morning hours of Friday.
It is alleged that the men, aged 31 and 29 slaughtered the cattle at farm Arnheim in the Gobabis district. The police is still investigating where the oryx was slaughtered. The suspects will appear in the Gobabis Magistrate Court on Monday.
In another incident, the Rosh Pinah Police is investigating a case of dealing in drugs after a male suspect (age unknown) was found with two units of crack cocaine valued at N.dollar 200.
The incident took place on Friday at about 23h00 at Tutugeni location in the town. The arrest followed a drug operation conducted by the police. The suspect will appear in court on Monday.
