KALKFELD, 18 MAR (NAMPA) – A total of 20 orphaned school children at Kalkfeld Primary School on Wednesday received school shoes from a church organisation originally from the United States of America (USA).
Kalkfeld is situated approximately 70 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Revered Garrey Allen of the Desert Skies’ House of Worship Ministries in the USA handed over the black school shoes, drawing pencils, pens and other stationery to 20 orphaned school children at Kalkfeld PS on Wednesday morning.
Allen told Nampa shortly after the distribution that his church members from the USA were emotionally touched to see school children here walking bare foot to school.
He said the church members then requested some money from their main church in the USA for these items.
The items are estimated to have been purchased at a cost of N.dollars 6 000.
“At least they have school uniforms on their bodies, but no shoes on their feet. We therefore felt it necessary to praise God in this manner by donating to them,” he said.
Allen told this news agency that his church on 06 March this year started worshiping sessions with a few community members at Kalkfeld.
The plan is to have as many residents of Kalkfeld become church members of the Desert Skies’ House of Worship Ministries, he said.
Allen said that if all goes well, the Desert Skies’ House of Worship Ministries might establish a church congregation at Kalkfeld.
The principal of Kalkfeld PS, Matilda !Kharuxas thanked the Desert Skies’ House of Worship Ministries for the donation.
!Kharuxas encouraged other community members to also donate to the orphaned children.
The school has about 127 orphans.
Kalkfeld PS has a total of 390 school children enrolled in a pre-primary and Grade 1 to 7
The school has 16 teachers, including !Kharuxas.
