Pohamba leaves for Maseru

WINDHOEK, 16 JUL (NAMPA) - President Hifikepunye Pohamba left for Maseru, Lesotho on Tuesday to attend the 50th birthday celebrations of King Letsie III of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday.
King Letsie III, the first son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and Queen Mother Mamohato Bereng Seeiso, was born on 17 July 1963.
He was crowned King of Lesotho on 31 October 1997 in Maseru, the capital city of Lesotho, following the death of his father in a motor-vehicle crash on 15 January 1996.
Pohamba is accompanied by First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Peya Mushelenga, Chief of the Mafwe Traditional Authority in the Caprivi Region George Mamili and other senior Government officials.
He was seen off by a number of senior Government officials at the Eros airport.
Pohamba and his delegation are expected back home on Wednesday.
