Air Force soldier allegedly commits suicide at Grootfontein

OTJIWARONGO, 12 MAR (NAMPA) – A member of the Namibian Air Force at Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region allegedly committed suicide by hanging on Tuesday evening.
The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha confirmed the incident to Nampa upon enquiry Thursday morning.
Braam Fischer, 28, allegedly took his life at a house he was renting in the Luiperdhuwel residential area of Grootfontein at approximately 23h00.
His close relatives are already informed of his death.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the owner of the house found Fischer's lifeless body hanging by the neck, suspended by a boot shoelace attached to the ceiling of a storeroom at the house.
The police were informed, and Fisher was taken to the Grootfontein State Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Mbeha said he did not leave behind any suicide note, and no foul play is suspected.
Police investigations continue.
