Arandis Investment Conference and Uranium Festival launched

WINDHOEK, 11 MAR (NAMPA)- The 2015 Arandis Investment Conference and Uranium Festival was officially launched here on Wednesday.
The festival will be hosted under the theme “Arandis, the Gateway to Industrial Excellence”.
Speaking during the launch, Mayor of Arandis, Daniel Muhuura, said the festival is planned as an event that can contribute to the sustainability of his town beyond the closures of surrounding Uranium mines.
“Our dream to be at the forefront of the industrialisation. We started way back when we introduced our first five-year strategic plan covering 2008 to 2012, and our focus has not yet diverted from the initial plan,” he said.
He said the town is still focusing on making sure that their dream materialises, hence the staging of the Investment Conference and Uranium Festival.
Muhuura added that the festival will promote their preparedness in terms of becoming a preferred services provider to the logistics Industry.
He stated that he has no doubt that they will achieve their set targets within the strategic plan.
The Festival is scheduled for 31 July and 01 August 2015.
Trade and Industry deputy minister, Tjekero Tweya , who also spoke at the event, said Namibia does not have a choice but to industrialise and to continue devising strategies to defend and sustain local and upcoming manufacturers.
He said his ministry has over the last financial year provided equipment finance to the Erongo region to the value of N.dollar 2.6 million, to assist the SMEs to acquire appropriate production technology to improve their productivity and competitiveness.
The conference is aimed at attracting potential investors to Arandis in order to encourage them to invest in the town.
The town hosted two conferences which it declared as successful in 2011 and 2013.
