Live press conference: President Elect announces Vice-President and Prime Minister nominees

The incoming PM Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila will have administrative powers. This will not be an honorary post.

All the people that were nominated today will be sworn in along with the
President and cabinet on the 21st of March.



Corruption is a long running issue and transparency will go a long way to reducing this. Geingob.


We are starting anew. We want to be available to you. But we also expect objectivity. Directed at Journalists by President-elect Geingob.


Governance is a partnership of equals. That can be done in a way of transparency and accountability... Then trust develops. Geingob

Nicky Iyambo: I will serve the people of Namibia to the best of my ability.


The land issue is a consequence of poverty. This would not be as big an issue if we all had jobs. Geingob

The top echelons have turned out to be gender balanced with Geingob, Iyambo as Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.


Honourable Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has been nominated to be Prime Minister of Namibia.

Nicky Iyambo has just been nominated as the new Vice president of Namibia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Netumbo is nominated Deputy Prime Minister.
