KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd has appointed Mark Hallum as managing director to replace David Stenstrom, who has moved on to the role of Senior Director of Manufacturing Engineering Europe at the Volvo Car Headquarters in Sweden, effective April 1.
Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia said Hallum will be in control of the reins unddr a three-and-a-half-year contract.
"Mark Hallum's remit will be to ensure luxury quality and increase volume of Volvo's locally assembled cars for the Asian market whilst bringing operations in line with the "Volvo Cars Manufacturing System", which sets the global way of working across all Volvo manufacturing sites," it said in a statement.
Prior to the appointment, Hallum has gained widespread automotive experience as Volvo's Vice-President for Manufacturing Strategy after working with Toyota and Honda as well as with McKinsey Consulting.
Formerly known as Swedish Motor Assemblies Sdn Bhd, Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia is responsible for producing Volvos for Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, and has been a cornerstone of automobile manufacturing in Malaysia for 47 years.
