WINDHOEK, 06 MAR (NAMPA) – Members of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) and affiliate union members receive funeral benefits from AVBOB.
The announcement was made at a media conference held on Tuesday in Windhoek.
NUNW acting Secretary-General, Job Muniaro said that workers do not know much about the various benefits that are due to them by virtue of being members of the NUNW affiliation.
He said that NUNW through its Labour Investment Holding (LIH) has acquired 20 per cent shares in AVBOB since 2006.
Muniaro said that the NUNW wants members of the public, especially members of the affiliation to benefit from the various products and services.
He said that when people are faced with funeral incidents one of the main challenges or setbacks is the financing for the cost of covering the funeral expenses.
When the funeral or cremation cost exceeds N.dollars 10 000, AVBOB will contribute N.dollars 1 500, while N.dollars 1 000 will be contributed by AVBOB when the funeral or cremation cost is between N.dollars 7 000 and N.dollars 10 000.
The lowest benefit is when AVBOB contributes N.dollars 400 towards a funeral and cremation cost between N.dollars 3 000 and N.dollars 4 000.
Muniaro said that if such an incident occurs, where a member of NUNW passes away, the family can make free use of AVBOB mortuary facilities providing that the relatives present the membership card of the deceased or any proof to the nearest AVBOB funeral office.
