KUALA BESUT, July 16 (Bernama) -- A representative of the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional) will be stationed at Pulau Perhentian near here to enable the islanders to get aid and information on business loans.

Tekun Nasional managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rahim Hassan said the representative would be appointed from among residents on the island.

"They don't have to go to Besut to seek our representative. We want to help the people. We want to see more Malays involved in business and progress," he told reporters after opening a Tekun and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry programme with the people here today.

He said Terengganu emerged third in Malaysia after Selangor and Johor to record the most entreprenuers getting loans from Tekun Nasional in the last 15 years. During the ceremony, Abdul Rahim handed over Tekun Gemilang Entreprenuer Awards for the Besut Parliamentary area to four recipients and handed over Tekun Nasional loan cheques to 149 entreprenuers. Several departments under the ministry also handed over 'Touch Point' aid in the form of chickens and saplings to 500 residents, and tithes to recipients.
