Shitaleni to be laid to rest in WHK on Saturday

SWAKOPMUND, 04 MAR (NAMPA) The funeral of Member of Parliament (MP) and Councillor for the Swakopmund Constituency, Germina Shitaleni is scheduled for Saturday at the Pioneerspark Cemetery in Windhoek.
Shitaleni died on Sunday in the Catholic Private Hospital in the capital after a long battle with cancer.
Chief Regional Officer (CRO) for Erongo, Nathalia /Gôagoses confirmed the funeral arrangements to Nampa on Wednesday, saying the burial will start at 07h00.
A memorial service for the residents of Swakopmund and the Erongo Region as a whole will take place on Thursday at the Tamariskia Hall in Swakopmund.
This service will start at 18h00.
The second and last memorial service will commence at 13h00 Friday in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) Hosianna Parish Hall in Windhoek.
Shitaleni was a former mayor of Swakopmund and the first woman from Erongo to serve as Swapo MP in the National Council.
She served on the National Council Womens Caucus and the Standing Committee on Habitat.
The late politician was also the chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Gender, Youth Information and Communication Technology from 2011 until her death.
