Pohamba receives new diplomats

WINDHOEK, 04 FEB (NAMPA) – Five Heads of Diplomatic Missions to Namibia presented their letters of credentials to President Hifikepunye Pohamba at State House on Wednesday.
They are High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia Sylvia Bambala Chalikosa; Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Sid Ali Abdelbari; Ambassador of the State of Palestine Abdel Hafiz Nofal; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium Hubert Cooreman; and Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia Martha Cecilia Pinilla Perdomo.
Pohamba welcomed the diplomats to Namibia and encouraged them to work together for the benefit of all countries.
He also called for cooperation and coordination in order to increase trade between their countries.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs of mission, Chalikosa commended Namibia for conducting free, successful, peaceful and transparent 2014 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“We wish to commend the government and the people of Namibia for the hospitable ambiance and friendship that this nation has continued to show to our respective governments and the world at large,” she said.
Chalikosa pledged their commitment to cooperate with the government and people of Namibia for the mutual benefit of all people.
She further committed their respective governments’ interest to address issues such as socio-economic challenges, matters affecting peace and stability as well as environmental concerns using bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.
