WINDHOEK, 04 MAR (NAMPA) – The Namibia School Sports Union (NSSU) on Tuesday received a sponsorship of N.dollars 280 000 from soft drink bottling company Coca-Cola Namibia.
Speaking during the sponsorship handover, NSSU national co-coordinator Solly Duiker, said to-date this is the biggest sponsorship ever received from an individual company.
“We have been partners with Coca-Cola for the last 24 years and we are hoping they will still be on board come next year (2016) to sponsor our national athletics championships which they have been bank-rolling since 1991,” said Duiker.
The increased sponsorship from the soft drink bottling company will be used towards the development of sports at grassroots level in all 13 Namibian regions with the Kavango West and East counted as one region.
“When we started with our partnership 24 years ago we got a N.dollars 35 000 sponsorship and by 2014 the sponsorship matured to N.dollars 190 000 with the inclusion of rugby and netball. Today we received the biggest money sponsorship from a single company that is N.dollars 280 000. We are thankful to Coca-Cola for helping develop sports at grassroots level,” stated Duiker.
