WINDHOEK, 03 MAR (NAMPA) - The countdown to Namibia’s 25th independence celebrations on 21 March 2015 commenced on Tuesday with the launch of the anniversary logo by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT).
Launching the logo in the capital, MICT Permanent Secretary (PS) Mbeuta Ua-Ndjarakana said event organisers are ready.
“I am calling on all Namibians to put their boots on and march to our silver jubilee,” he said excitedly.
The PS explained that the Namibian flag on the logo is in the form of an abstract landscape representing the land; while four figures in blue, green, red and yellow perform a celebratory gesture signifying the different ethnic groups in Namibia who are 'filled with joy and are reaching up to the sky”.
“They are all standing close to each other, illustrating unity,” Ua-Ndjarakana said.
The light grey in the logo represents silver jubilee, while the blue represents depth and stability which symbolises trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth and ‘heaven’.
The green represents nature, symbolising growth, harmony, freshness and fertility. According to the PS, green has strong emotional correspondence with safety.
Meanwhile, the ministry received 28 submissions for the silver jubilee logo design.
Out of these, the design by Boldrin Titus, a branding and advertising specialist at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), won the tender. He received N.dollars 10 000 for his design.
