WINDHOEK, 02 MAR (NAMPA) – The first-ever Innovation Festival by the Namibia Business Innovation Institute (NBII) will take place on 15 and 16 April 2015 in the capital under the theme 'Innovation in Manufacturing'.
The objective of the festival is to approach the manufacturing sector in a local context and to explore how Namibia can sustainably position itself as a global contender.
“Our aim is to highlight innovation as a pillar for national development, with particular emphasis on the Namibian National Development Plans (NDPs), said the NBII's Innovation Marketplace Manager Angelica Bergmann.
She said during a media briefing here on Friday that over 15 innovative exhibitors and institutions are expected to showcase their products and do presentations on different topics.
These topics include “Blue Economy”, overview of manufacturing in Namibia, design thinking, product development, and transforming Namibia's human resources towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
The festival will be open to everybody and no entrance fee is involved.
The NBII is an arm of Polytechnic of Namibia which aims to inform the public about innovation and entrepreneurship; motivate and train people to become entrepreneurs; support entrepreneurs in starting and managing their businesses; and engage innovation in products and services and development of technical skills.
