WINDHOEK, 02 MAR (NAMPA) The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) recorded many cases of murder over the past weekend.
A teenage boy was arrested in connection with the murder of his father on Saturday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed his father at Koes in the //Karas region.
NamPols spokesperson Inspector Slogan Matheus told a media briefing here on Sunday that the incident occurred at about 12h45 at Club Indaba in the Plaatjiesheuwel location.
He said the suspect, 18, and his nine-year-old sister allegedly had an argument at home and she ran to her mother who was at the nearby bar.
The suspect followed her to the bar where he found both his father and mother.
Both parents then intervened, whereby the father slapped the suspect on his face.
The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed his father in the neck and chest, killing him instantly.
The deceased, whose next of kin has already been informed, was identified as 38-year-old Jacobus Isaacks.
The suspect was arrested and is due to make his first court appearance tomorrow.
In the Omaheke region, Godley Dan, 22, was stabbed on his chest with a knife after an argument broke out over cigarettes between him and his attacker on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at about 00h40 at the Tafel Huis Bar at Witvlei when the deceased lit a cigarette and the suspect asked him to smoke from it.
A quarrel started between the two men, whereby the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the deceased on the left side of his chest. The deceased was rushed to the Witvlei clinic but died upon arrival.
The suspect, 17, was arrested and is due to appear at the Gobabis Magistrates Court on Monday.
NamPol is also investigating a case of attempted murder in the Khomas region where 23-year-old Linus Kahenge was shot twice on his neck and back by a taxi driver on Friday night.
The incident occurred between 23h00 and midnight at Omupala Street in the Ombili location.
It is alleged that an argument broke out between the taxi driver and the crowd of a house party he had just arrived at. Kahenge intervened to stop the argument but was shot by the taxi driver.
He was rushed to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital and is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene and is still at large. Police investigations into the matter continue.
Police also recorded an incident of rape at Aroab in the //Karas region.
A 17-year-old male was arrested for allegedly raping his neighbour on Saturday at about 00h05 in the Vaalhoek area.
The 24-year-old victim was asleep at home in her bedroom when the suspect allegedly entered the room, undressed her and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The suspect has been arrested and is due to make his first court appearance on Monday.
In another rape incident, two male suspects were arrested by the Namibian Police after they allegedly raped a 52-year-old woman in Groot Aub on Saturday between 01h00 and 03h30.
Matheus said both suspects and the victim were heavily intoxicated with alcohol when they had sexual intercourse with the woman without her consent.
The suspects have been arrested and are due to appear in the Rehoboth Magistrates Court on Monday.
