NABBED: SINGAPOREAN, 60, WANTED FOR 2001 MURDER IN REPUBLIC

JOHOR BAHARU, July 16 (Bernama) -- A man, wanted by the Singapore police in connection with a 12-year-old murder, was arrested by Johor police in Nusajaya early this month.

The 60-year-old suspect was picked up at his rented house in Taman Tan Sri Yaacob on July 7.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the man was held for overstaying under the Immigration Act and charged at the magistrate's court here today.

He said the man was handed over to the Singapore police to facilitate investigations into the murder. He declined further comment.

Mohd Mokhtar was speaking to reporters at the Johor police headquarters here.

It is understood that the man was involved in the 2001 murder and a warrant of arrest was issued in 2009.
