Former Tubusis principal appears for rape of learner

USAKOS, 19 FEB (NAMPA) – Former principal of the !Oë‡Gâb Primary School at the Tubusis settlement, Cornelius Nameya appeared in the Usakos Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of raping a minor.
The rape allegedly took place at his house on 09 March 2013 while he was still the principal of that school.
Nameya, 60, has since retired.
It was his second appearance after his first on 19 March 2013.
The charge sheet indicates that Nameya applied physical force to rape the girl, who is now 15 years old.
He is currently out on bail, and his case was postponed to 07 May 2015 awaiting the decision of the Office of the Prosecutor General (PG) on when and where he will be tried - regional or high court.
The school, which has 58 hostel boarders in Grades One to Seven, is situated some 50 kilometres north of Karibib near the Erongo Mountains.
