Round of 16 Draw of the Competition Proper of the Bidvest Namibia Cup

On Tuesday, 10 February 2015 the Bidvest Namibia Cup Round of 16 Draw took place at the NFA’s soccer house in Windhoek. All teams that qualified for the Round of 16 after the Round of 32 of the competition proper were part of the draw. The results of the draw were as follows: LHU Blue Waters FC vs UNAM FC; Tigers FC vs Julinho Sporting FC; African Stars FC vs Nampol Omaheke FC; FNB Eleven Arrows FC vs Kangweru Black Tops FC; Young Chiefs FC vs Touch & Go FC; Black Africa FC vs Rebel FC; Swakopmund FC vs Citizens FC and Java Java Java FC vs FNB Orlando Pirates FC.  The Round of 16 games will take place in Windhoek and Walvis Bay respectively. The Fixtures will be communicated in due course.

Theo Mberirua, Bidvest Director of Commercial and Business Development recalled the launch of the competition more than two years ago and admitted that Bidvest Namibia would not have dreamt of the impact this competition would prove to have on all the regions of the country. He said: “We have now entered the 3rd and final year of our agreement with NFA and I am of the opinion that most of you will agree with us as a company Bidvest Namibia’s name will go down in history as one of those companies in the country that really contributed handsomely to the beloved game of soccer.”

He congratulated all the teams that made it into the Round of 16 and wished the teams, players and their coaches all the best for the round of 16. “Let the best team on the day win and proceed to the next round.” He appealed to fans to come in numbers and pack the stadiums. “Only if we can demonstrate big crowds will you make the NFA’s job easier to secure more sponsorship for soccer. Please continue to behave accordingly and let us continue to accept defeat and victory with the same dignity. As they say ‘one man practicing sportsmanship is far better than 50 men preaching about it’.”

Mberirua also reminded all soccer fans that they should attend as many games as possible in order to qualify for the ultimate prize at the end of the cup. “The All Access Pass Competition will allow passionate Namibian football supporter and a partner the once in a lifetime chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to watch a Sunderland A.F.C home game at the iconic Stadium of Light against any English Premier League team, courtesy of Bidvest Namibia. This lucky winner will also get to meet selected Sunderland A.F.C players, enjoy a tour of the Stadium of Light including the stadium tour and receive some of the team’s personalised regalia. What a prize.”
