WINDHOEK, 10 FEB (NAMPA) – The Bidvest Namibia Director of Commercial and Business Development Theo Mberirua has called on football fans to fill football stadiums in order to attract lucrative sponsorships.
He said this here on Tuesday during the draw of the last 16 teams for the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup.
The company’s three-year sponsorship of the competition will come to end this year.
Mberirua said in order for sponsors to come on board in football, people should attend games in large numbers to show their love for the game and this will make it easier for sponsors to market or sell their products.
“With our sponsorship coming to an end at the end of this Bidvest campaign, I believe the Namibia Football Association (NFA) are currently busy looking for our replacement. It will really be of help if we can demonstrate big crowds at the stadium, then we will make NFA's job easier to secure more sponsorship for soccer,” he said.
Mberirua also thanked football administrators for the good job they have been doing with the Bidvest Namibia Cup.
“Allow me to utter words of sincere appropriation to the men in black (referees) for the good and professional job they have done for this competition since its inception in 2013,” he added.
The Bidvest Namibia Round of 16 will be contested on 27 and 28 February as well as on 01 March, with the quarter-finals set for the weekend of 27 to 29 March.
The semi-finals will take place from 24 to 26 April, while the final will be contested on 30 May at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
