Bidvest Cup draws six elite teams against each other

WINDHOEK, 10 FEB (NAMPA) – Six Premier League teams will clash in three encounters of the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup Round of 16.
The draw for the third and final Bidvest Cup competition took place here on Tuesday.
This round of matches will be contested on 27 and 28 February, as well as on 01 March in Windhoek and Walvis Bay.
Elite teams Black Africa Football Club (FC) will play host to Rebels FC, while Tigers will host Rundu-based Julinho Sporting.
Blue Waters will tackle Unam.
Black Africa are the current Namibia Premier League champions.
Speaking at the draw, Bidvest Namibia’s Director of Commercial and Business Development Theo Mberirua said his organisation will go down in history as a company which contributed handsomely to the beloved game of football.
“I still can recall when we first launched this competition, now more than two years ago.
I will admit that at the time, we never really comprehended the impact this competition would have on all the regions of this country,” he stated.
Mberirua then thanked those who made the Bidvest Cup the success it is today.
The other fixtures of the Round of 16 are:
African Stars (defending champions) vs NamPol Omaheke
Eleven Arrows vs Kangweru Black Tops
Young Chiefs vs Touch & Go
Swakopmund FC vs Citizens
Java-Java vs Orlando Pirates
The quarter-finals are set for the weekend of 27 to 29 March, with the semi-finals scheduled for 24 to 26 April.
The final will be contested on 30 May at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
This year's Man of the Match from the Round of 16 will walk away with N.dollars 2 000, while N.dollars 5 000 has been reserved for the Man of the Match during the final match of the competition.
This category will be voted for by the media.
The top goal-scorer of the tournament will take home N.dollars 25 000, while football fans can win a ticket to watch England-based Sunderland FC’s match in that country.
Fans should enter their match tickets, their names and contact details on them to stand a chance of winning the prize.
The all-expenses-paid trip includes watching training sessions of Bidvest-sponsored Sunderland FC, as well as meeting their players.
English Premier League club Sunderland are currently placed 14th out of 20 teams.
