HSBC MALAYSIA WINS TWO AWARDS FROM FINANCIAL PUBLICATIONS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd (HSBC Malaysia) has been named 'Best Foreign Commercial Bank' by Finance Asia for the third consecutive year, the tenth win since its participation.

In a statement today, HSBC Malaysia said it has also been named 'Best Foreign Bank' by Alpha South-East Asia for the fifth consecutive year.

The awards recognised excellence among Asian banks by looking at their key financials, branch network and growth of the relevant business units, including important participation in loans, cash management mandates and key business transactions, it said.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Mukhtar Hussain, said the awards were a testament to the hardwork and dedication of the team in Malaysia.

"The bank's success over the years is linked to its ability to be where the growth is and to access the opportunities available in this country.

"We will build our strength and expertise in this industry and continue the drive to meet the diversified financial needs of the Malaysian market," he said.

HSBC Malaysia said it has also received twenty other awards this year.

The bank was locally incorporated in 1984 is a wholly-owned unit of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp Ltd (a company under the HSBC Group). -- BERNAMA
