Diversity Namibia Conference 2015 receives corporate support

Sponsors commit N$200 000 to conference

The first-of-its-kind Diversity Namibia Conference’s main programme is taking place at the Safari Hotel and Conference Centre on 12 February 2015 with the opening evening and panel discussion taking place on 11 February 2015. This week PwC and Nedbank Namibia both formally committed a total of N$100 000-00 each to the Diversity Namibia Conference.

“As we are planning to drive diversity within our organisation, we are looking forward to learning how best to manage diversity at the upcoming conference,” said Dr Andreas Mwoombola, Head: Transformation & Strategy, Managing Director at Nedbank Namibia, Mr Lionel Matthews said “Nedbank supports inclusivity as a corporate organization and is pleased to partner with the Diversity Namibia organising team, because we believe in leveraging diversity in the workplace.”.

PwC Namibia supports this view. “It is important to support each other’s differences,” commented Stefan Hugo, Partner at PwC Namibia. “We believe in diversity to the extent that it is one of the parameters used in leadership appraisals,” confirmed Nangula Uaandja, Country Senior Partner at PwC Namibia.

“The conference organising team is immensely thankful for the support we have received from Nedbank Namibia and PwC Namibia. This will support us in our effort, bringing Fons Trompenaars, internationally-acclaimed expert on organizational culture and diversity, to Namibia. We would like people to discuss and have conversations about diversity. This will allow business leaders to gain knowledge about how to manage something as complex as diversity in the workplace,” explains Margareth Gustavo, Managing Director at Cornerstone Joe Public and Main Organiser of Diversity Namibia.

The key speaker, Fons Trompenaars, is founder and director of Trompenaars-Hampden-Turner, an intercultural management firm, based in The Netherlands. During the past 25 years Trompenaars has helped Fortune 500 leaders manage and solve their business and cultural dilemmas to increase global effectiveness and performance, particularly in the areas of globalisation, mergers, acquisitions, HR and leadership development.

“I had the privilege of being trained by Fons Trompenaars. He is a dynamic speaker and, in my opinion, the right person to stir the thinking of leaders about diversity,” says Gustavo.  For more information and to register online, interested persons can visit the Diversity Namibia Conference website at: www.diversitynamibia.org
