Netball Namibia northern champs cancelled

WINDHOEK, 30 JAN (NAMPA) The senior national netball championship for the northern regions scheduled for this weekend in Rundu has been called off until further notice.
The event was cancelled due to the unavailability of transport to take players to the venue.
Players from the regions of Zambezi, Kavango West, Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana and Kunene were set to compete in the talent-identification competition for possible inclusion in future national teams.
Netball Namibia (NN) Public Relations Officer, Rebekka Goagoses told Nampa on enquiry Friday that the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture could not avail transport for the players due to unforeseen circumstances.
We were supposed to get transport from the line ministry, but they advised us to postpone the whole event to another day, she said.
The new date is yet to be set.
We have a yearly calendar for all NN events and this cancellation is really bad because it is affecting our planning, but it was something beyond our control. We suggested dates to the ministry on when we think this championship could be hosted, and we are now waiting to hear from them on when they will be able to avail transport for us so our calendar doesn't get mixed up, she said.
Goagoses said the southern regional cluster competition, which was scheduled for 07 February 2015 in Keetmanshoop, will also be rescheduled.
