N$2.5 Million for Roads Authority Bursaries
The Roads Authority (RA) of Namibia yesterday awarded bursaries worth N$2.5 million to 19 equally deserving students.
At the awards ceremony held at the Safari Hotel in Windhoek acting on behalf of both the CEO and the acting CEO, Sophie Belete-Tekie expressed her delight at this prestigious event. The RA considers itself a frontrunner in manpower development. Testament to this; out of 80 recipients since the inception of the bursary scheme in 2003 a total of 42 former RA bursary recipients successfully completed their studies with a RA bursary Tekie explained.
“Forty (40) of those who completed their studies have taken up prominent positions within Roads Authority,” she added. The RA received a total of 298 applications out of which the RA awarded 19 bursaries to young deserving Namibians. Out of the 19 Tekie explained “fifteen bursaries will be awarded in the field of Civil Engineering, two in Financial Accounting and two in Computer Science.”
Tekie closed off here keynote speech with an inspirational quote from Mahatma Gandhi as a word of encouragement for the aspiring bursary recipients.
