SHARE PRICES TURN MIXED AT MID-AFTERNOON ON LOSSES IN SELECTED BLUE CHIPS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-afternoon trading following losses in selected blue chips, dealers said. At 3 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slipped 0.22 points to 1,786.45. A total of 834.294 million shares worth RM1.045 billion were traded. Gainers led losers by 366 to 295, with 307 counters unchanged, 608 untraded and 30 others were suspended. On the scoreboard, the Finance Index surged 34.318 points to 17,110.54 while the Industrial Index fell 0.13 of a point to 3,017.25 and the Plantation Index lost 34.03 points to 8,462.89. The FBM Emas Index gained 6.949 points to 12,448.27, FBMT100 Index rose 2.171 points to 12,186.44 and the FBM Mid 70 Index improved 17.631 points to 14,305.48 and the FBM Ace Index garnered 32.97 points to 4,837.42. Among actives, TH Heavy Engineering added 3.5 sen to 89 sen, TH Heavy Engineering-WA earned one sen to 49.5 sen but Eastland Equity lost five sen to 76.5 sen. As for the heavyweights, Maybank lost two sen to RM10.48, CIMB earned four sen to RM8.39 and Axiata was flat at RM6.79. -- BERNAMA AMY AMY TOM
