WINDHOEK, 26 JAN (NAMPA)-Khomas Region based Java Java Football Club (FC) and the coastal team Blue Boys reached the Round of 32 in the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup after play-offs over the weekend.
The 12 Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) sides battled for a place in the next round of competition in Mariental.
Java Java beat Rehoboth based Spiders FC 3-1, while Blue Boys won against Windhoek United by 2-1.
Speaking to Nampa on Monday, Java Java head coach John Paku said qualifying to play in the Bidvest Namibia Cup this year was a good thing as they did not make it last year.
This year, we plan to end far in the cup compared to last year when we ended in the Preliminary rounds, he said, adding that they want to win all their matches this year and play in the finals.
Java Java will take on Otjiwarongo FC on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma stadium.
Also speaking to this agency on Monday, Blue Boys coach Wallace Doeseb, said their aim in the Bidvest competition is not to win the cup, but to motivate the players as they take on the premier league clubs.
Our main aim is not to win, but if we do it will be a bonus, he said, adding that their concentration is to get promoted to the premier league.
Blue Boys will lock horns with Unam on Sunday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Doeseb said Unam is a team that is full of surprises, but the pressure will be on Unam to win the game.
We are just going there to do what we can do to the best of our abilities, but we are ready to give them a surprise, he stated.
The Bidvest Namibia Cup round 32 will kick off this weekend, with games to be played in Tsumeb and Windhoek.
