Netball northern championship set for the weekend

RUNDU, 28 JAN (NAMPA) - The town of Rundu in the Kavango East region will be the hive of activities this coming weekend, with the hosting of the netball northern regional championship slated to kick off this Friday.
The northern regional championship is being organised by Namibia Netball (NN).
The Kavango Netball Association (KANA) Chairperson, Nika Mudumbi, who is part of the organising committee told Nampa on Wednesday that eight northern regional teams will be participating in the first ever netball championship to take place in the Kavango East region.
The regions are Zambezi, Kavango East and West regions, Oshikoto, Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana and Kunene regions.
Mudumbi explained that although there is no monetary rewards, winners of the championship will however walk away with a floating trophy as well as medals.
The championship will take place at the Rundu Sports Stadium.
According to Mudumbi, all netball fanatics are invited to turn up in big numbers as entrance to the stadium will be for free of charge.
The netball northern regional championship is being held with the aim to prepare players for the upcoming netball league in the various northern regions, as well as encourage women to actively participate in netball.
