WINDHOEK 21 JAN (NAMPA) – A building under construction by a Chinese company in Rundu collapsed on Monday, killing one construction worker.
The incident happened at the Rundu Rainbow Village at about 22h00.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi confirmed the incident to Nampa on Wednesday, saying three other workers were injured in the process.
“Apparently, the building fell onto a corrugated iron sheet room in which the construction workers were sleeping,” he said.
The diseased has been identified only as Evalitius, a Namibian adult.
His next of kin were informed.
The three injured workers were admitted to the Rundu State Hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Police investigations continue into the matter.
Phase one of the Rundu Rainbow village was completed in 2013, and phase two of the residential area is currently underway.
