WINDHOEK, 21 JAN (NAMPA) – Three men were arrested by the City Police on Wednesday with stealing clothes in Katutura.
City Police Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Gerry Shikesho informed Nampa on Wednesday that the suspects were apprehended after they were found selling clothes they were meant to deliver to a local clothing store.
The suspects are employed by a South African transport and delivery company that delivers clothes to Ackermans shops and other clothing retailers around Windhoek.
“What these guys do is before they do the deliveries to the shops, they take some of the clothes and sell it,” Shikesho said.
He said this operation has been ongoing for quite some time, and the City Police decided to follow the delivery vehicle after a tip-off from members of the public.
The driver and his co-workers were found selling some of the clothes in “Herero location” and arrested three of them.
Another suspect managed to run away and is still at large.
The value of the clothes is estimated at about N.dollars 14 000.
Shikesho warned the public to refrain from buying stolen goods, saying: “Anyone found with stolen clothes or any other stolen goods will be arrested'.
He further said that the City Police would engage shop owners on possible solutions regarding this kind of theft.
