NSA board appoints acting Statistician General

WINDHOEK, 21 JAN (NAMPA) The Board of Directors of the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Liina Kafidi as the agency's acting Statistician General.
In a press statement, the NSA board announced that Kafidi - the agency's Director of Demographic and Social Statistics - will fill the position for the next six months starting as from 01 February 2015.
The decision was made following the resignation of the former SG, John Steytler, who will leave the agency's employment on 31 January 2015.
Steytler, according to recent media reports, intends on seeking another career.
Kafidi is a holder of an MSC Degree in social statistics and a postgraduate Diploma in statistics from the University of Southamptom, as well as a Bachelor degree in Mathematics from Greenville, Pennsylvania.
According to the statement Kafidi, has over 22years of experience in statistical production and research including management and supervision of statistical units.
The NSA board expressed its confidence in Kafidi, and pledged its full support for her.
