WINDHOEK, 18 JAN (NAMPA) - The Namibian National Students’ Organisation (Nanso) has applauded the Ministry of Education for the release of credible, timely and fair 2014 Grade 10 and 12 national examination results.
Nanso Secretary-General Sharonice Busch said in a media statement issued on Friday that the line ministry’s efforts are recognised of delivering on the promise of education and hope of the Namibian child.
“Nanso would further like to extend a salute to the teachers for their commitment and hard work in teaching the learners and preparing them for the annual external exams,” she said.
However, the organisation urged education directors of the various regions to follow the example of the Erongo regional annual Spring School, saying that with these efforts students will be better prepared for the national examinations.
Busch said that in order to ensure regions become competitive, regional directors must “pull up their socks” and ensure that inspectors and subject advisors become more active in regions and not just when a region is faced with a disciplinary issue.
Nanso further encouraged the 1 150 candidates who obtained between 20 and 24 points in both Grade 10 and 12 to make sure they remain productive citizens by registering with training institutions accredited by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) to further their studies or upgrade their points.
