Soldier drowns in the Kavango river

WINDHOEK, 14 JAN (NAMPA) – A member of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) drowned at Rundu beach in the Kavango river on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 15h20 in Rundu in the Kavango East region.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango East region, Inspector John Kakoro told Nampa on Thursday that the deceased was swimming with other NDF members that all came from Windhoek for the NDF graduation of commissioned officers that will take place at the town on Friday.
His body was recorded on Wednesday morning and was taken to the Rundu State Hospital for post mortem.
The deceased has been identified as Marthin Nafital Ikuyu, 25 years-old a member of the NDF parade.
His next of kin were informed.
Police investigations into the drowning continue.
