WINDHOEK, 13 JAN (NAMPA) - The outgoing Ambassador of Algeria to Namibia, Lahcene Kaid-Slimane on Tuesday paid a farewell courtesy call on President Hifikepunye Pohamba at State House.
The Head of State said that he would have liked the ambassador to stay longer in Namibia.
It is a pity that ambassadors have a time limit, I wanted you to stay for five years more, he said.
Pohamba commended the outgoing ambassador for his hard work that strengthened the long historic relationship between Namibia and Algeria.
Yes, indeed you have done a lot during your stay here for almost five years, and we are happy with the work you have done for strengthening the already existing relations between our countries, he said.
Pohamba then wished him a good journey back to his country.
On his part before their closed-door meeting, Kaid-Slimane thanked Pohamba, the government and the people of Namibia for the hospitality and support rendered to him and the entire staff of his embassy.
He said he did his best to work towards the strengthening of ties between the two sister countries.
The ambassador will depart soon.
