WINDHOEK, 12 JAN (NAMPA) President Hifikepunye Pohamba will depart for Maputo, Mozambique on Wednesday to attend the official inauguration of that countrys new president Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.
Nyusi will be sworn in on Thursday.
He previously served as Minister of Defence from 2008 to 2014.
Nyusi won the October 2014 presidential election with 57 per cent of the vote under the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) political party, which also won the parliamentary election.
He is taking over from his predecessor Armando Guebuza, who ruled the country for two terms.
Opposition party, the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) which fought a lengthy civil war with Frelimo that ended in 1992, alleged widespread rigging at the 15 October polls and refused to recognise the election results.
Pohamba will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and other senior Government officials.
The Namibian delegation is expected back on Thursday.
