PUTRAJAYA, July 15 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak tonight attended the breaking of fast with members of the Cabinet, menteri besar and chief ministers at his official residence in Seri Perdana here.
Present were the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad and Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
At the event, Najib, as minister in charge of Felda, presented Felda Group's business tithe amounting to RM26.78 million to 14 state zakat (tithe) centres (PZN) to menteri besar, chief ministers and state Islamic religious council representatives.
Pahang PZN received the highest amount at RM8.1 million, followed by Johor (RM5.6 mil), Sabah (RM3.8 mil) and Negeri Sembilan (RM1.8 mil).
It was the ninth successive year Felda Group made its tithe obligation to state PZN.
The prime minister also presented aid to 50 orphans from Rumah Darul Kifayah which is managed by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council.
Najib later joined congregators to perform the Maghrib, Isyak and tarawih prayers.
