WINDHOEK, 10 JAN (NAMPA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration has extended the period for submission of study permits for foreign students wishing to study in Namibia.
The due date has been extended from January 2015 to 31 March 2015.
“All prospective foreign students who have enrolled or wish to enrol themselves with Namibian educational institutions but have not yet applied for their study permits, should do so within the given time,” read a media statement issued by the ministry on Friday.
There will be no further extensions this year.
The applications for short courses may be submitted anytime provided that there is an offer from the relevant institution, and the foreign student should apply and wait for the outcome while he or she is outside Namibia.
“As for the enrolment for 2016 and subsequent years, submission of applications for study permits will start from November 2015 until 28 February 2016 without further extensions,” it said.
The ministry highlighted that all applications should comply with all the stipulated requirements, adding that applicants renewing their study permits should attach the latest school or academic results obtained from the institutions for which study permits were given by the ministry.
Meanwhile, the ministry warned foreign students who apply for studies but do not actually attend classes but engage themselves in other businesses.
“Appropriate measures will be taken against those individuals including deportation to their countries of origin and or residence,” the ministry warned.
