Rain falling in second half of rainy season only

WINDHOEK, 09 JAN (NAMPA) – The northern parts of Namibia have been receiving rain for the past two days, while it only started raining in the central and southern parts of the country on Thursday.
The Chief Meteorogical Technician and Forecasting at the Namibia Meteorological Services, Odillo Kgobetsi told Nampa here on Friday that the Eros Airport recorded the highest rainfall figure of 8.8mm on Thursday.
Other towns’ rainfall figures are Windhoek 4.6mm; Keetmanshoop 2.4mm; Eenhana 1.6mm; Oshikango 1.4mm; Rehoboth 1.2mm; Oshakati and Ondangwa both recorded 0.6mm; Katima Mulilo 0.3mm, and both Rundu and Otjiwarongo 0.2mm.
“The rain is yet to come with thunder storms according to our weather synoptic conditions. We believe that by next week Monday and Tuesday good rains can be expected,” Kgobetsi said.
Namibia is yet to receive favourable rain during the current rainy season which is already in its second half.
