EASY TAXI IDENTIFIES MALAYSIA AS KEYSTONE MARKET IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Easy Taxi, a global tried-and-tested taxi booking application company, identified Malaysia as the keystone market in the Southeast Asian region to launch the service.

Easy Taxi Malaysia Managing Director Chan Heng Joon said the one month old start-up expected to generate revenue from taxi drivers who would pay a flat rate of just RM1 for each ride completed, from the 500,000 rides planned in its first year of operations.

"The company operates on an open business model that gives its drivers the opportunity to earn more income by not having to work exclusively with Easy Taxi," he said in a statement today.

Easy Taxi's goal is to offer Malaysians who rely on taxis for their travel needs, a free and easy to download application that helps book a safe and reliable taxi ride, every time.

"We felt an easy to book taxi service that people and passengers could trust and depend on was missing in Malaysia.

"We say this because we understand the frustrations of trying to get metered taxis, waiting for long periods of time, and not knowing if we will arrive at our destination on time and safely," said Chan.

Backed by investment of RM45 million to date, Easy Taxi has secured a commanding network of 800 taxis in one month and 27,000 applications downloaded in Malaysia.

Present in 30 cities in 11 countries including Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Columbia and Venezuela, Easy Taxi is driven by Rocket Internet, the German giant famed for building e-commerce business in emerging markets.
