WINDHOEK, 22 DEC (NAMPA) The Pioneer Football Academy (PFA) will host a fundraising football tournament in aid of charity at Omaruru in the Erongo Region on Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament is titled Christmas Charity Challenge Cup (CCCC) 2014, and takes place under the theme Let's commit and strive towards the 4 Ds - Dream, Dedication, Determination and Discipline in order to excel for a brighter and better future.
Al proceeds will go as a Christmas gift towards the Omaruru Childrens Haven, a charity organisation in Omaruru which takes care of homeless children and orphans.
A statement from the organisers on Monday said the main aim of the football tournament is to encourage and promote the development of sports activities at grassroots level, creating a platform for both players and teams to actively participate as well as testing their skills and abilities.
It further said that the tournament will use football as a tool to promote and enhance better health and social responsibility.
The teams invited are lower, first and second division football teams from the Erongo regional towns of Arandis, Uis, Usakos, Karibib, Okombahe, Omaruru, Otjimbingwe, Omatjette, Spitzkoppe and Tubusis.
The tournament is sponsored by Namib Gaming, TWC, Snyman Transport, Coca-Cola, and OTB Sport.
The event will coincide with music shows, promotional prize draws, while food and drinks will be widely available.
All football matches will be played at the Mabokke Football Stadium in Omaruru.
The entry fee is N.dollars 800 per team.
Prizes on offer:
Winner - N.dollars 5 000 plus a trophy and gold medals; runners-up - N.dollars 3 000 and silver medals; Third Place - N.dollars 1 800 and bronze medals; and Top Goal Scorer - N.dollars 300 plus a trophy.
